Call for Writers - Marketing and Social Media

If you're someone who wants to get into writing, explore what's involved in the marketing and communications aspects of talent development, or simply looking for unique opportunities to network with seasoned practitioners in the talent development field, we're eager to chat with you.

ATD-OC is looking to add to our community's pool of knowledge through the creation of original content. The content would address topics of interest to the talent development community, and would explore the myriad of development opportunities our chapter offers its members.

You could submit original content based upon your experiences in training, instructional design, or eLearning, or you could select from one of our Community Content Calendar topics. And while we'd be thrilled to list you as a "Chapter Writer," we'll be equally elated if you elect to take on a single article. Either way, you'll find a way to get your unique voice out to a community of talent development professionals.

Monthly Learning Event Member Ambassadors

At a Monthly Learning Event (MLE), welcome new members and guests, ensure they have the information they need for a successful, enjoyable experience. March and April slots are available now. Ambassadors should have attended at least 2 prior MLE's.

Monthly Learning Event (MLE) Coordinator

Reporting to the VP of Programs, the MLE Coordinator assists the VP Programs and Chapter Admin with logistics and set up for an MLE; arrives early and stays late for his/her assigned Monthly Learning Event; helps with set up of meeting room, including audio visual; distributes handouts and other materials; welcomes speakers; and does whatever else is needed to ensure that the MLE runs smoothly. Must be a punctual and organized self-starter, able to work independently with little supervision, and enjoy helping others. Also, be comfortable working with computers, AV equipment, and Powerpoint and other applications. Added perk: the MLE Coordinator's registration is covered by the Chapter!

Volunteer Reward & Recognition Team

This team is focused on ensuring that ATD-OC volunteers get back as much as they give. Do you have ideas on how we can say "thank you"? How should the Chapter tailor its volunteers' roles to align more closely with their career goals? If you have ideas about engagement, support, and appreciation for those who are the life blood of ATD-OC, then you belong on this team!

- Should we throw a big "Thank You" party? Several smaller events?
- Should we revise our Year End Special Awards?
- How can we help further volunteers' career goals?
- What are the best ways to say "Thank You!" and "You Rock!"

We will also explore increasing skill development, mentoring, coaching, and leadership opportunities; plus visibility and networking.

Programs Advisory Council

Help us build your programs! We are seeking to form a small team of talent development professionals working internally in OC organizations. The purpose of the team will be to guide the chapter program content to ensure the programs we deliver are relevant and timely to current organizational challenges.

Time Commitment: Attend quarterly 1.5 hour discussions regarding the talent development issues you are working on.

Why you should participate:

Network with talent development professionals working at other OC companies
Opportunity to give and receive advice on talent development issues you're working on
Stay current with talent initiatives that other local companies are working on
Helps the chapter deliver better programs

Membership Team

The ATD-OC Membership Team orients and welcomes new members, keeps in touch with them throughout their membership and strives to help them meet their needs. The team also conducts outreach efforts to potential members.

If you join the membership team, you can help with any one of the following activities...or as many as you like:

Serve as a New Member Ambassador to welcome new members and guests at Monthly Learning Events
Lead New Member Orientations
Make welcome/orientation calls to new members
Participate in training outreach to targeted groups such as training managers or students
Help lead or participate in special projects such as improving the New Member Onboarding process or surveying current members about their membership needs
Partner with other team members as a volunteer coordinator

New Member Outreach

Give new members a personal welcome: reach out by phone; ask about their interests and goals; and direct them to activities and benefits they might value most.

Marketing Operations Team

Help define and support ATD-OC marketing goals. Assist with campaigns to engage members and non-members. Focus on strategy, marketing content, design, and brand development.

Technology Committee

The Technology office of the ATD OC Chapter provides technology solutions that improve the membership experience, and ensure the Board and other volunteers are able to maximize their time when working on behalf of the chapter. In 2017 this will be achieved by streamlining web content, maximizing the use of add on tools such as the Google suite of products, and providing storage solutions for large media files.
