    A tried and true method of building engagement during synchronous training interventions is through discussion.  What about through asynchronous events?  How can we ensure that a conversation begun during a webinar is continued during self-paced training sessions?

    We've discussed various methods throughout the year -- a list of "you could do this," that's as long as a summer's day.  It's about time we explored how.

    4-Week Social Media Series

    Wednesdays: July 25 thru August 15

    This year's Summer Social Series agenda:

    • Engaging Discussions
      You've created an online presence -- now what?  We'll examine techniques for engaging your followers both with content and conversation.  
    • Creating Discussion Groups
      We'll revisit Facebook and LinkedIn -- not as branding tools, but as vehicles for both invitation-only discussion boards and all-are-welcome discussion groups.
    • Creating a Collaborative Website
      There are a myriad of website providers to help you create a space for content with which your groups can interact. ATD-Orange County's website provider, Wild Apricot, provides a variety of services that support a community's online activity.  We'll explore a service readily available to anyone with a Google account -- Google Sites
    • TBD
      We're at a crossroads on which way to go here -- we've found some interesting collaborative tools that could support online learning.  Should we go that route? Or should we discuss how you can seamlessly enhance your in-person presentations with social media prompts?

    The ATD-OC President’s Book Club is open to non-members too! It’s a great way to learn more about ATD-OC, learn important skills, have fun, and meet some of our wonderful members.

    What is our agenda?

    Some come to talk, some to listen, all to experience the moment.

    • 10 – 30 minutes: Greetings and self-introductions
      • (exact time and format depend on number attending)
    • 30 – 45 minutes: Discussion on three questions
      • What learning point matters to you most from the book?
      • Where does the lesson apply in your current life?
      • What is one action you will take as a result?
    • 10 – 30 minutes: Discussion on next steps

    A little about our book…

    Power, position, property. Critical to human development, history, and society. We are hardwired to want more in the name of personal survival. Today’s workplace is filled daily with battles over information, relationships, and authority. Everyone is fighting for survival and today’s fight is psychological safety. Turf wars are productivity and morale squashing activities that employees engage in – most without any conscious thought to their choices.

    ATDOrange County's Total Trainer University consists of two courses:

    1. Total Trainer:  Creating Training
    2. Total Trainer:  Delivering Training

    Total Trainer:  Delivering Training is fun, practical and hands on. With 50% of the course devoted to practice and feedback, time flies as you develop skills. 

    Designed and led by senior training professionals from ATD-Orange County, this course is designed for Trainers and Presenters who:  

    • Deliver Training to groups
    • Deliver Presentations at work, conferences, school, meetings and on other occasions

    The course works great for both experienced and inexperienced trainers and presenters. Those less experienced focus on developing fundamental skills, while the more experienced take action on subtle tips and techniques that take their skills to the next level.

    Research on the importance effective communications uncovers that a starting 56% of US dollars spent on a project is at risk due to ineffective communications.  Projects falter, programs fail.

    If your training program is a key component of an organizational change or improvement initiative, mindful communications will serve as a critical component of your program's success. Otherwise, it may fall under the list of ineffective initiatives that consume organizational time and money.

    Key to creating mindful communications is a communication plan.  A communication plan will serve as a roadmap to ensure that your message gets to your audience.  But before that, it helps you test assumptions, clarify your team's goals, and identify the road map for a consistent, singular message is delivered over all communication channels.

    Join us as we walk through creating a communication plan.
