"It's like déjà vu all over again.” ~ Yogi Berra
Do you ever get the feeling that leaders call and ask you to solve the same problems; regardless of their location, tenure, division, department, unit or team? What is their problem? Leaders believe that their problem is typically one of two (and sometimes both), “My people need customer service training” or “My people need teamwork skills (AKA team building).” But is that what they really need?
As performance specialists we believe that diagnosis is part of the cure. In this case the leader has diagnosed and prescribed the cure and they may not want you to waste any more time conducting a needs analysis… or do they? Using Thomas Gilbert’s Human Competence model Matt will introduce you to a tool that can be used in 10 short minutes to persuade the leader that customer service or teamwork may not be their true problem. More importantly, this tool can be the gateway to conducting a true needs analysis and solving the leader’s true problem.
About the Presenter:
With over 25 years of experience, Matt McNabb, Ed.D., will share how he has both successfully, and even un-successfully, used this tool. He will share the tool with you in hope that you may put it to use in your organization or business. Matt is currently the Manager of Leadership & Organizational Development at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. He and his team provide Leadership & Organizational Development to nearly 10,000 employees and physicians. Matt is also a professor of Organizational Development at Webster University.
