Tools and Techniques for Personal Change Management

Up until now, we have lived through our own personal crises, as the rest of the world remained a stable environment which provided a sense of safety and normalcy that could be returned to. That is not currently true. We now have to manage change on such a wide-reaching level, in all aspects of our lives, both individually and as a society.

We have been thrust into a new norm that is causing feelings of uncertainty, frustration, and fear. We are facing a variety of changes related to our workplace, homelife, income, health care, child care, elder care, selfcare, eating, and even shopping. Processes and priorities are changing daily and we are making things up as we go along. That’s a lot of change to mentally process and manage, and it can be overwhelming and exhausting.

This rapid change has heightened emotions causing great stress and anxiety which affects our mental health and coping mechanisms, as well as our physical health. Stress weakens the immune system and is the precursor to illness. So, if we can nip stress in the bud, we not only support our mental health, we strengthen our immune system as well.

We will discuss:

  • Why we react to things the way we do
  • The science behind the fight, flight or freeze response and why we can’t think clearly under stress
  • How negative reactions are a result of our feeling that our safety is being threatened (even if the change is for the better)
  • Why our beliefs cause stress

You will learn tools and techniques that will:

  • Calm, shift, and transform your thoughts to allow you to be more focused, creative and solution-oriented
  • Alleviate stress in the mind and therefore the body
  • Relieve the feeling of overwhelm to allow a state of action rather than reaction
  • Create a mindset that "sticks"

This session will be different from any other than you have attended in ATD-Orange County. You will leave  calm, relaxed, centered, focused and with a renewed sense of safety and control. And you will have techniques you can use  on your own. We will start out with some brief relaxation and focusing techniques, dive into some theory, and end with Tapping routines that will address specific issues attendees would like help with.

Upon registration you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire, so the processes can be tailored to the specific needs of the group.
