THIS event is for you!

Join us as we speak with panelists who have successfully made the transition from various industries and roles. Our event will discuss the evolving L & D landscape, key skills for success, and actionable insights that will help you navigate your career transition.

Whether you are coming from HR, education, or an entirely different background, this event will provide you with real-world experiences, live Q & A, and an opportunity to build your L & D network. In addition, participants will be able to:

1. Identify key competencies and roles within the Learning and Development field.

2. Understand how transferable skills from other industries can be applied in L & D.

3. Recognize common career paths and entry points into L & D.

4. Gain insights into the tools, technologies, and best practices frequently used by L & D professionals.

About the Transitioning Professionals SIG

This newest SIG is a joint effort of the ATD-Orange County and ATD-Los Angeles Chapters and provides support and education to professionals making the exciting transition into the L&D field.

Attendees will learn about the resources, professional opportunities, and community available to them, as they embark on their new career journey, as well as a brief overview of chapter, membership, and upcoming events.

1. Learn about the Transitioning Professionals SIG’s mission, goals, and upcoming events – all aimed to help members build a strong professional foundation to transition into L & D.

2. Gain access to valuable resources that will help members acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to enter and succeed in the field of L & D.

3. Grow your professional network, connect with peers who have the same career goals, and help to build a community that provides members with ongoing support and guidance.

About Your Co-Leaders:

Kesha Thomas Clark is an experienced professional currently working to transition into the learning and development field. Recently, Kesha worked with UCLA’s Office of Undergraduate Admission and the Association for Talent Development—Orange County chapter to facilitate leadership workshops to executive staff and senior managers. Driven by a desire to help people, Kesha is interested in leveraging her unique experience in business and the nonprofit sector to create impactful strategies and learning experiences that support professional growth and organizational success.  

James Oakley is an Instructional Designer and eLearning Developer who specializes in the electrical, engineering, and technical spaces. He started out his career as a High School English Teacher and then took his passion for education into adult learning. Most recently, James developed a comprehensive curriculum of eLearning and Instructor-Led training courses for Critical Facility Engineers in Meta Data Centers across the globe. In this space, James makes meaningful and results driven training experiences for Fortune 500 companies.
