The 6 Types of Working Genius is a productivity approach developed by best-selling author Patrick Lencioni, and focuses on practical tools for how to immediately get more joy and better results from working with others, both personally and professionally.
The Working Genius model distills any kind of work down to six fundamental activities. And fairly quickly, it helps people identify the types of work that makes them thrive and make them become frustrated and burned out.
Working Genius differs from other tools in that it is applied directly to work and is not just theoretical. Many personality instruments help people better understand how they are wired, and fail to explain how their unique attributes fit together with others in the process of getting work done. Working Genius not only helps individuals walk away with a greater understanding of the type of work that makes them thrive, but also provides teams with a better way to think about their dynamics, projects, meetings and even their hiring.
Working Genius is part personality assessment and part productivity tool for teams.

About our Presenter:
Dr. Greg Cherney has spent the last 30 years developing people, processes, and products across multiple disciplines.
Greg started his career after graduating Cal Poly Pomona as a chemical and materials engineer, and focused on developing new products and manufacturing processes for The Pillsbury Company, ConAgra Foods, inventing numerous products for leading consumer brands such as Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream, Hunt's Ketchup, Swiss-Miss Cocoa, Snack Pack Pudding, Peter Pan Peanut Butter, and Knott's Berry Farm Jams, Jellies and Preserves.
Early in his career, Greg’s wife struggled with migraine headaches, and he was disappointed at the lack of results she was receiving from medical professionals who put more focus on her symptoms than the root cause. He decided to further his professional education by studying Chiropractic at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, so he could blend the health needs of his wife with his engineering background and help get to the root cause of his wife’s headaches. In addition to resolving this problem, during Greg’s time in private practice, he met and cared for many office workers in Orange County through creating and delivering lunch and learn wellness presentations at local organizations he found through ATD. During this time, he recognized the importance of leadership and change management skills he needed to develop in order to help people make the changes they needed for lasting improvement in their lives.
To accelerate development of these skills, Greg returned to the world of corporate product development. Through the course of his career in global leadership roles and through leading large scale change programs, Greg realized he needed to focus his future on talent development and obtained a Master of Education in Organizational Learning, Performance, and Change from Colorado State University to fill knowledge gaps in his practical experience. Greg currently works as a Learning and Development Specialist at Thrive Causemetics focused on talent and organization development and volunteers as the Vice President of Programs for ATD-Orange County.
Greg’s journey in talent development was not linear, but rather a winding series of choices made through increasing his self-awareness. In addition to his educational degrees, Greg is Wiley Certified in DiSC, is certified in Human Centered Design, and is Certified by Patrick Lencioni’s organization in The 6 Types of Working Genius. When Greg is not developing others, he can be found spending time with his family, enjoying vocal jazz, watching stand-up comedy, or walking around stationery stores trying not to drool on all the amazing fountain pens and day planners he finds.
