"For the past 17 years, I have been a manager, facilitator, and instructional designer in the learning and development world. In 2015, I joined the Total Trainer program for its networking opportunities, and to revisit some training development foundations. Though I am a seasoned professional, this program was quite beneficial. Not only did it introduce me to other members of ATD-OC, but I also obtained some new tools and insight on how to enhance my results.
Each class is taught by a different facilitator which allows you to learn and experience a variety of approaches to creating and facilitating training. I enjoyed the Total Trainer - Creating Training program so much that I attended the Total Trainer - Delivering Training program also. I’ve incorporated many of the concepts from the programs into my development and facilitation portfolio. This includes the questioning techniques which I incorporated into facilitator guides resulting in better questions not only for the facilitators, by myself as well as while I’m facilitating. I believe it has helped me better connect with the participants and better validate content understanding.
I thoroughly enjoyed the program and believe it’s so valuable that I volunteered to be on the project team for the next round. I’m excited to help bring this program to others.
